The background of this North Irish Horseman is not known at present, other than that he was born around 1899.

Thomas Stewart enlisted in the North Irish Horse on 29 August 1917 (regimental number between 2673 and 2699 – later Corps of Hussars No.71958).

He trained at the regimental reserve camp at Antrim until 4 January 1919, when he was discharged, being 'surplus to military requirements, not having suffered impairment since entry into the service' (paragraph 392xxv(a) King's Regulations).
